Combustible Dust Regulations

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is initiating a comprehensive rulemaking on combustible dust. OSHA will be organizing meetings to discuss possible regulatory methods as well as issues relating to combustible dust.

Weld Smoke Applications

C&W Technical Sales and American Air Filter continue to be leaders in weld smoke air filtration. C&W has recently worked with mechanical contractor Wm. Schaus & Sons on providing three collectors for a manufacturing facility in the Manitowoc area. The Optiflo cartridge collectors, two 4RC32’s and one 4RC16, were sized to handle 24,000 CFM and 16,000 CFM applications respectfully. These units should be operational by the month’s end.

C&W has also rented the whole manufacturing area when close capture is not possible. Both Brenner and Polar Tank buildings were handled in this manner. Brenner Tank collects 60,000 CFM re-circulating it through a 96 cartridge AAF 4RC96 to their 24x32x280’ facility. Polar’s facility is slightly smaller venting with 50,000 CFM through an 80 cartridge AAF 4RC80. Polar Tank was so impressed with the weld smoke collection that they purchased a second smaller 32 cartridge AAF 4RC32 for another building.

AAF offers a wide range of cartridge collectors from portable one cartridge units with flexible arms (WFE series) through the large Optiflo cartridge units.
